DESCRIPTION
Cream to Off-White pgs; Universal holder; Unrestored
classic Red Skull bondage cover (3/47) Comic Book Impact rating of 7 (CBI)
Thanks to the inevitable trend of retconning Golden Age characters to fit into modern-day storylines, issue #61 of Captain America Comics features one Jeffrey Mace in the iconic red, white & blue uniform, along with Fred Davis Jr. in the role of Bucky. Of course, when first published, this future information was not in play, and this was simply one of the post-war Cap comics that First Avenger fans love to collect, one which features Cap’s Ichiban nemesis, the Red Skull. The plot involves a plan for the Nazi villain to steal and resell pharmaceuticals, adding drug dealer to his ever-growing list of transgressions. With a couple of other Captain America adventures and a Human Torch story included in the overstuffed anthology, this is a classic Golden Age barrel of fun. The Syd Shores cover follows in the tradition of Kirby and Schomburg and provides the action in spades.
