ISSUE:
CGC G-: 1.8
GRADE:
Fawcett
PUBLISHER:
light tan/ow pgs
Origin & 1st Captain Marvel
Crowley Copy
Here comes the Big Red Cheese! Created by Bill Parker and drawn by C.C. Beck, Captain Marvel, debuted in Whiz #2 (#1), (the reason for the #2 is due to legal concerns from the ash-can version). Children and adults loved Captain Marvel so much his sales surpassed Superman. This drew the wraith of DC who sued Fawcett as they thought Captain Marvel was too similar to Superman and wanted to put Fawcet out of business. Legal issues aside Captain Marvel and Whiz continued to sell well for years! This issue also premieres Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Spy Smasher, Ibis the Invincible and many more! A truly monumental book, difficult to find in unrestored condition and one of the top Golden Age comics to collect and invest in!
