WONDER WOMAN #1
CGC F/VF: 7.0
William Moulton Marston's complex comic creation was a vital addition to the superhero pantheon, a fearless feminist icon, equal parts warrior, diplomat, fetish object, and symbol of empowerment. Wonder Woman is one of the few Golden Age creations whose style and format were dead-on from the start, resulting in a nearly unbroken run of quality throughout the WWII-era. After her auspicious debut in All Star Comics 8, Wonder Woman grabbed her own cover and comic with Sensation Comics, her long running title that proved to be such a break-out success that DC introduced Wonder Woman 1 in the summer of 1942. This issue contains four tales of groundbreaking Golden Age heroine-ism, the first of which re-tells the character's origin story and her introduction to love interest Steve Trevor.
There's been plenty of debate over the quality of some of the recent additions to the DC Cinematic Universe. Everyone but the most jaded of hearts agrees that Gal Gadot's portrayal of Wonder Woman was a knockout. Her star turn has generated buzz in the world of geekdom, which is no easy feat. The Wonder Woman film is the sensational blockbuster we knew it would be., which will further serve to drive the value of this book.
