Like any truly great adversary, the Skull both opposes and compliments our hero, putting Captain America's optimistic, stoic, dynamic patriotism in stark contrast. Though not pictured on this cover, his influence hovers over this image, as monstrous, inhuman Nazis indulge in unspeakable heinousness, only to be thwarted by our hero and his eager sidekick. A typically grandiose, fearless Kirby image. Besides the Red Skull cover story there are two inventive Cap tales in this issue, one involving baseball and one involving a villain named the Fiddler, there are also plenty of other Golden Age goodies here to round out the book.
