This carbon copy of Jerry Siegel's 1945 script for nine weeks of the Superman Daily Newspaper Strip titled Seven Prophecies was typed by Jerry on the Royal Portable Typewriter (also for sale in this auction) that he took with him when he went into the Army during World War II. It is one of the many Superman comic book and newspaper strip stories that he wrote on that typewriter. This particular script was written while he was serving in the Pacific. Seven Prophecies was scheduled to appear Monday through Saturday in daily newspapers throughout America from the end of November 1945 through January 1946. Jerry wrote pencil notes to himself after some of the strips so he could keep track of the date it was supposed to be released. For instance on page 1, III, the M-3 he wrote lightly stood for Monday, December 3rd. After the war when Jerry went home to Cleveland, he brought this carbon copy with him for his files. Unfortunately he lost page 15 of the script.
Originally from the personal collection of Jerry Siegel.
