Jerry Siegel often wore this shirt because it was comfortable and it reminded him of Superman's famous blue and red costume. It didn't have an S  on it or a yellow belt attached &but he still called it his Superman shirt  because the color combination was forever associated in his mind with the character he conceived and wrote from the early 1930s through the late 1940s and again in the late 1950s through the 1960s.
