Buscema UFO cover; Kirby, Ditko art
Highest Graded
The vigorous faces and dynamic staging that would come to define John Buscema's classic 1970s work for Marvel are already evident in this exciting sfi-fi cover, a great example of the kind of rapid-fire, no-nonsense genre storytelling that kept Atlas (later Marvel) moving throughout the turbulent 1950s. Atlas pre-hero horror books are tough to come by, and nearly impossible to find in nice condition, so any time you see an Atlas horror book in acceptable shape, grab it right away, it won't last.
In my entire career I have never seen a Tales of Suspense #3 in any grade above a VF. When you think of rare 1950s comics in high grade, early pre-hero Marvels pop up immediately in one's mind. The colors on this book make it look like it was printed yesterday. An unforgettable Buscema cover captures the moment in full color and silhoutte in this epic Scifi original! Highest Graded, 1 of 1 and the highest graded TOS of any of the first five issues according to the CGC census. Bid Strong and Prosper!

Artists Information

Jack Kirby is called 'The King of Comics' for a reason, during his career that spanned six decades he gave us many of the most iconic characters the medium would ever see. From his introduction of Captain America at the height of World War II it was clear he wasn't your ordinary comics artist. But it was his creative explosion at Marvel Comics in the 1960's that cemented his legacy, over a short period of time Kirby would give us The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Hulk, The X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man and Nick Fury just to name a few. Kirby would then go to DC and create his Fourth World, introducing Darkseid, Mister Miracle, The New Gods and a host of cosmic supporting players. Long live The King.

'The Michelangelo of comics.' Buscema was one of the mainstays of Marvel Comics during its 1960s and 1970s heyday, best known for his run on the The Avengers and The Silver Surfer, and for over 200 stories featuring the sword-and-sorcery hero Conan the Barbarian. In addition, he penciled at least one issue of nearly every major Marvel title, including long runs on two of the company's top books, Fantastic Four and Thor.

Joe Sinnott is an American comic book artist. Working primarily as an inker, Sinnott is best known for his long stint on Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, from 1965 to 1981, initially over the pencils of Jack Kirby. During his 60 years as a Marvel freelancer and then salaried artist working from home, Sinnott inked virtually every major title, with notable runs on The Avengers, The Defenders and Thor.
