There have been precious few geniuses in comic history, but on that short list, Will Eisner would rank at or very near the top. His restless experimentation, coupled with his superb storytelling gifts made him the artists' artist, and one of the few comics creators who could reasonably be said to have practically invented the methodology of how to tell stories in the comics format. This moody, cinematic cover from the beloved Kitchen Sink Spirit reprint series showcases both Eisner's unerring sense of drama and composition and his impeccable facility for subtle characterization and emotional impact. Any serious comic art collector must own an Eisner piece. This is one of his finest late-period covers.
