Featuring the origin of Batman and the first appearance of The Joker and Catwoman, Batman 1 is considered one of the top six Golden Age keys by the Overstreet Price Guide. What's more, this comic has one of the most instantly recognizable cover images of the Golden Age. There are very few can't-miss comics. This is one of them.
Batman 1 has acted as the gateway" key for a generation: its relative availability compared to Detective 27 and Action 1 meant that copies could be found with comparative ease, and the number of lower-grade copies in circulation made for reasonable pricing -- for a while. The runaway success of the other major DC keys in recent years has made this book suddenly tough to obtain, and put the book in huge demand. As with any great introductory book for new Golden Age fans, this is the perfect copy. It's low-grade but completely unrestored, and its cover colors remain strong and appealing with relatively minimal wear and soiling for the grade. If you're looking for the perfect way to anchor a new Golden Age key collection, this is your book. If you're looking for a can't-miss key with long-term investment potential, Bat 1s are no-brainers. This one hits the sweet spot.
Overstreet Guide 2012 VG- (3.5) value = $29,750
