One of the coolest pieces of art we've ever offered (no pun intended), this is a sterling example of the kind of forceful, pop-art oriented covers that kept DC Comics roaring during the mod '60s, as their talented artists repeatedly topped themselves with more daring, more aggressive, and more unforgettable cover imagery. Fallen heroes sell, and the placing of the Scarlet Speedster dead center in what appears to be the end of Barry Allen's most recent trip through terminal velocity at the hands of Captain Cold, caused this issue to become a beloved favorite of Flash fans. Note the seemingly effortless, feathery brushstrokes carefully deepening the shadows, a hallmark of Murphy Anderson's, one of comics' all-time finest inkers, who also composed and penciled this tricky image 30 years before the finest CGI computers could get it right. Also note the finely-honed sneer on the villain's face and the artful composition of his smoking gun, which frames the menacing mien looming over the awful deed. One of the best-known of all Silver Age Flash covers, this piece is sure to inspire fierce competition. Comes with original logo stats, another rarity for this period.
