Moondog's Dr. Fate Collection
Incredible Hulk #2 provides a second first appearance for the beloved brute that became a pop-culture hero. Stan Lee demanded a change after a botched printing process for Incredible Hulk #1, changing the Hulk from a blotchy gray to the character's green-skinned glory. The key character would survive his own title’s quick cancellation to keep thrilling comics fans, eventually coming back with a top-selling book and a hit '70s television show. From there, the Hulk’s return to the big-screen Avengers reignited the public’s passion for both the troubled hero and his alter-ego of Dr. Bruce Banner.

This is another of those early Marvels that seems to exist only in tattered, creased, faded copies, so seeing such a splendid example is like seeing it anew. As with most of the Moondog/Fate pedigree titles, the inks are vivid and striking while the cover is blindingly glossy, assuring that bidders will be in a frenzy over this book come auction-time.

Artist Information

Jack Kirby is called 'The King of Comics' for a reason, during his career that spanned six decades he gave us many of the most iconic characters the medium would ever see. From his introduction of Captain America at the height of World War II it was clear he wasn't your ordinary comics artist. But it was his creative explosion at Marvel Comics in the 1960's that cemented his legacy, over a short period of time Kirby would give us The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Hulk, The X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man and Nick Fury just to name a few. Kirby would then go to DC and create his Fourth World, introducing Darkseid, Mister Miracle, The New Gods and a host of cosmic supporting players. Long live The King.
