Flash Comics boasted some of the most distinctive and finely drawn covers of the Golden Age, thanks to the skill of artists such as Sheldon Moldoff. His malleable style worked well both for children's cartoon comics and action-packed hero books. As seen on this classic cover, Moldoff's fine lines and deft sense of drama create one of the comic industry's most lasting images. The artist communicates the character's super skills with a few simple details, including the sense of speed created by motion lines and the path of a bullet fired by the thug in the foreground. These elements combine to form a perfect introduction to the newly-minted hero.

This issue remains a top collectible and serious investment for introducing the world to two of DC Comics' biggest names: The Flash and Hawkman. The Flash, of course, has gone on to big-screen and small-screen stardom; Hawkman made his big-screen debut in Black Adam, and fans are hotly anticipating both characters' future roles in James Gunn's revamping of the DC Extended Universe.
This book signaled the arrival not only of the Flash but also one of the other most popular characters of the era, Hawkman, who continues to loom large in the DC universe to this day. Flash Comics 1 also gives us both of their origin stories, a factor that invariably raises the interest and value of a given issue. As most fans of comics are aware of Flash being the "fastest man alive", and his role in resurrecting DC with his re-invention in the Silver Age, they know this is where it all began, a must-have comic for any serious collector. The bright color scheme of this kinetic cover highlights the action as the baddies lurk in the darkness of the foreground. This is a great find, at a very high-grade, of an issue that rarely comes to market in such incredible condition.
