DESCRIPTION
stunning pencil-and-ink cover from horror maestro Stephen Bissette, drawn from his influential run on one of most important comics of the 1980s; 11" x 17"

Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run, as genius as it is, would be unthinkable without his two main collaborators, Stephen Bissette and John Totleben. While they were occasionally spelled by a handful of industry vets and fellow Kubert school alumni, it is the frenzied, nightmarish firebrand bursts of Bissette and the exquisitely rendered, deeply-felt lines of Totleben that are most often seen in the mind's eye when discussing the classic Moore Swamp Thing series. This overpowering and impressive cover, from late in the Moore period, is a rare example of Bissette working solo, his chalky, aggressive spotting of blacks and energetic lines giving a weight and majesty to a truly awe-inspiring image, part of the cosmic cycle with which Moore completed his beloved series of Swampy sagas. Art from this run is damnably difficult to obtain, and covers are even tougher to track down, making this entry a true treasure for collectors, which are sure to demand top dollar and incite frenzied bidding.
