Inside, history was being made as the first brief appearance of the Ghostly Guardian, The Spectre, prepared readers for a new era of atmospheric, tortured storytelling. One of the most challenging and haunting of Golden Age hero titles was foreshadowed in a small but memorable ad spot warning of dark glories to come. The very first appearance of the Spectre in costume makes More Fun Comics 51 a highly desirable key comic for collectors that have graduated to the Golden Age. This comic has a fantastic cover by Sheldon Moldoff that is worth the price of admission by itself. The Spectre, however, introduced to readers with six words "Who is he? What is he?" is the real draw. The Spirit of Redemption was here to stay and the world would never forget.
