origin & 1st app of Spider-Man (Peter Parker), 1st Uncle Ben & Aunt May (8/62) Comic Book Impact rating of 10 (CBI)

Amazing Fantasy #15 remains the Silver Age equivalent of Action Comics #1 as both a cultural artifact and an important investment for collectors. Jack Kirby ushered in Spider-Man’s first appearance with one of the comics biz most enduring classic covers; Steve Ditko took over the interior art while working with co-creator Stan Lee on this legendary debut. The story also shook up the comics industry with the premise of a neurotic Everyman gifted with extraordinary powers, plus a tragic backstory fueled by guilt over the death of Uncle Ben. All of this innovation continues to make for a timeless collectible that's kept Spider-Man (and Peter Parker) swinging for over 60 years as one of the most iconic and collectible characters in comics.

This particular copy is in very good condition: unrestored with fetching color and off-white pages. Aside from some general wear, the edges are fairly neat. Makes for a nice show piece in addition to its increasing collectible value.

Overstreet Guide 2015 VG/F (5.0) value = $14,400.

Artist Information

Jack Kirby is called 'The King of Comics' for a reason, during his career that spanned six decades he gave us many of the most iconic characters the medium would ever see. From his introduction of Captain America at the height of World War II it was clear he wasn't your ordinary comics artist. But it was his creative explosion at Marvel Comics in the 1960's that cemented his legacy, over a short period of time Kirby would give us The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Hulk, The X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man and Nick Fury just to name a few. Kirby would then go to DC and create his Fourth World, introducing Darkseid, Mister Miracle, The New Gods and a host of cosmic supporting players. Long live The King.
