DESCRIPTION
Contains Ashcan #1 & Highest Graded #2

The story of Double Action 2 is reasonably well-known in collector circles. DC, like many other imprints, would claim copyrights with ashcans and test the market with limited print runs. Publishers, eager to capture a great new title, threw already-printed material into cheap, black-and-white editions and sent a few copies around the office, or in other cases, to barely a handful of newsstands. This was the case with Double Action Comics, and for many years, collectors assumed that the second issue, with a color cover and black-and-white interior, was the only issue of the run. It's not an ashcan in the strict sense of the word as it enjoyed enough of a run to make it to a few magazine racks around the NYC area. As it's not really an official DC title either, Double Action 2 has enjoyed cult status as a charming anomaly, an oddball super-collectible that scarcity hounds would fight over. The Overstreet Guide, since nearly its inception, listed an issue 1, but, seemingly, no one had ever seen it, or, like Bigfoot, it was only seen by a friend of a friend of a friend. Did it really exist? Was it out there, somewhere, lying around someone's office, trapped in DC's files, or was it a hoax, perhaps a misheard rumor, a non-existent whisper, a ghost?

We're thrilled to finally put the rumors to rest with this astonishing find. The elusive, long-thought-lost Double Action 1, offered here as a pairing with an incredibly high-grade copy of Double Action 2. We believe the Double Action 1, likely the rarest of all DC comics, came from the offices of Sol Harrison, one of the longest-serving members of the DC bullpen, who rose from colorist to production manager and finally to president of DC. In the combined 75+ years of experience in our senior staff, none of us, I mean none of us, have ever seen a copy of this incredible document. The rarest of the rare, the absolute pinnacle of any DC Golden Age collection, scarce does not begin to describe this book. Assembled in DC's offices and produced in incredibly low numbers, it's a miracle this copy even survived, but it has, and is in remarkable condition. In addition, the Double Action 2 is one of the two highest-graded copies on the census, making it a vital part of any serious portfolio of high-grade rarities. We can't possibly overemphasize what a rare opportunity this is, and how incredibly scarce these comics are. This chance will not come again. Believe it.
