Pacific Coast Copy
One of the more stirring aspects of the X-Men's narrative is the confusion some of the mutants face over their self-perception. Are they outcasts of society or overlords of the common man meant to subjugate the lesser species? This topic is addressed early on in the series through the personage of the Blob, a mutant discovered working in a freak show, who is invited to join Professor Xavier's team. Thinking himself superior to the young heroes, The Blob declines and enlists his carnival cronies in an effort to destroy the X-Men and take over the world. It doesn't go well for him, his mind is wiped and he ends up back at the carnival.
This Pacific Coast pedigree copy of X-Men #3 we have on offer is tied for highest graded on the census, and it is plain to see that it has earned its lofty status. Yet another time-honored cover by the master Jack Kirby, boasting amazingly vivid colors that dance right off the page, a bare minimum of blemishes, and tight, sharp corners, all combine to make this a most-desirable copy for those Silver Age X-fans out there.

Overstreet Guide 2016 NM- (9.2) value = $2,700.

Artist Information

Jack Kirby is called 'The King of Comics' for a reason, during his career that spanned six decades he gave us many of the most iconic characters the medium would ever see. From his introduction of Captain America at the height of World War II it was clear he wasn't your ordinary comics artist. But it was his creative explosion at Marvel Comics in the 1960's that cemented his legacy, over a short period of time Kirby would give us The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Hulk, The X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man and Nick Fury just to name a few. Kirby would then go to DC and create his Fourth World, introducing Darkseid, Mister Miracle, The New Gods and a host of cosmic supporting players. Long live The King.
