classic Kirby Hitler Red Skull bondage cover; origin & 1st app of Young Allies; Cap meets TorchRiding on the popularity and success of its star, Captain America, Timely comics had no intention of canceling the red, white, and blue Avenger's off-shoot Sentinels of Liberty, despite the cooling relations between Timely management and the title's star creators, Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. Enter young whipper-snapper and staffer, Stan Lee, ready to cut his teeth and show off his talents by taking over scripting duties on the rechristened Young Allies. To hedge their bets, Timely not only plastered the already-legendary Red Skull on the cover of the new title, but also sale magnet and would-be world-conqueror, Der Fuhrer. Interestingly, this book featured the first ever pairing of Timely's two main draws, Captain America and the Human Torch, and launched a dubious tradition of showcasing our heroes tied or strapped to one nasty-looking device or another.Along with all the other Golden Age Timely titles, Young Allies is still highly desirable and extremely scarce in high grade. This beautiful copy is in VF/NM condition, you would have a really tough time finding another comparable example anytime soon. High-grade copies like this do not come up for auction very often so make sure to bid before someone else gets their paws on this copy and removes it from the market for the foreseeable future!

Jack Kirby is called 'The King of Comics' for a reason, during his career that spanned six decades he gave us many of the most iconic characters the medium would ever see. From his introduction of Captain America at the height of World War II it was clear he wasn't your ordinary comics artist. But it was his creative explosion at Marvel Comics in the 1960's that cemented his legacy, over a short period of time Kirby would give us The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Hulk, The X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man and Nick Fury just to name a few. Kirby would then go to DC and create his Fourth World, introducing Darkseid, Mister Miracle, The New Gods and a host of cosmic supporting players. Long live The King.
