1st. panel appearance of The Lizard
Jon Berk CollectionFirst year Ditko Spidey is an extremely rare treat, as we've only ever seen a very small sampling of interior art from the era. When this page surfaced in the 90s, it stunned the original art market when it became the first Marvel piece to sell for more than $10,000. Back on the auction block twenty years later, this piece is set to shock the market once again.
Steve Ditko left an indelible mark on comicbooks with his masterful renderings of ol' Webhead. His co-creation, along with Stan Lee, has become Marvel's most famous and beloved character of all time. Ditko's mastery of the comicbook form is on full display here. His fine line work shows why so many revere him as an artist. This beautiful page features Spidey in three panels, including a great pose in the last panel, while the Lizard appears in all five. The scarcity of original Ditko artwork is well known among original art collectors and investors.
