Highest GradedWeird Comics put a bit of a twist on the typical Golden Age anthology book and never failed to present oddball, interesting, and daring covers. Lunacy abounded with bondage and/or torture covers often drawn by GA standouts Lou Fine, George Tuska, Edd Ashe, and Joe Simon, making it a firm fan favorite of serious comic hounds into something a little off the beaten path.
The title itself is simply sublime, much of the content is just that & flat out weird -- from men who won't (or can't) stay dead to Nazi infiltrators to a mentalist spy. Interestingly, the first hero Weird Comics introduced was named Thor, the God of Thunder. Weird Comics' stories were also packed with whacko villains like Voodoo Man, The Sorceress of Zoom, and Dr. Mortal. We might be speculating, but it could be that frequent cover stars, The Dart and Ace somewhat resemble an animated super-duo parody named Ace and Gary that appeared sporadically on Saturday Night Live.
