Jon Berk CollectionPunch Comics was created by the self-aggrandizing comic-book showman Harry "A." Chesler Jr. and the title would find itself stirring up a bit of controversy in the pre-code era, mainly due to its scandalous covers. The aptly titled series often boasted hard-hitting and aggressive covers such at this gunfight-in-a-skull classic, a hard-boiled book from a hard-boiled time. According to Mr. Chesler himself, this issue is one of the "World's Greatest Comics". Who would argue with that? A powerful image set against a foreboding, black background, we consider this cover to be one of the true classics of pre-code adventure comics.
