Highest GradedFormerly Detective Picture Stories. Keen Detective Funnies was one more Golden Age anthology that offered readers thrills, chills and intrigue. Published by Centaur, the series served as a repository for the crime and detective stories that were de rigueur in the WWII era. One can chart the trends of the comicbook industry through these covers, as the appearance of The Masked Marvel signaled the sudden pivot from reality-based police and gangster tales toward the costumes, capes, and secret identities that were the stock and trade of the superhero game. Masked Marvel was unusual as his identity was never revealed, the mysterious crime-fighter would confront evildoers along with a trio of helpers, the oddly monikered ZL, ZR, and ZY. Employing a variety of odd gadgets and weapons Masked Marvel entertained readers of Keen Detective Funnies until moving over to his own self-titled book.
