DESCRIPTION
Charlie Adlard pencils, inks, and signed; image size 9" x 13.75"This outrageous Charlie Adlard cover presents a group of walkers in various stages of decay reflected in a blood-spattered riot gear helmet; a poignant depiction of the desperate plight of civilization. The image alludes to the story of the struggle for survival of the community of Woodbury as they ransack a prison for supplies and gear to protect themselves from the walker menace. Human society has fallen apart and none of the survivors know what it's going to take to put it back together while keeping the walkers at bay. This cover is a great emblem of the dire conflict that pervades the world of the comic, where life has become a permanent catastrophe fueled by senseless violence and unexplainable horror. The walking dead are shown at their gruesome best with half-rotten faces deteriorating, and hands mindlessly clutching the air in search of edible victims. Though faceless, the obvious fear of the occupant within the helmet is reflected in the terror standing before them. This is a perfect image of complete hopelessness and a quintessential Walking Dead collectible that truly captures the horrific feel of the comic.
