Early Krazy Kat w/ The Dingbat FamilyThe title of this endearing daily strip, "They Entertain a Ventriloquist and Fool Mr. Dingbat", pretty much sums it up. The mystery family that lives over Mr. Dingbat is at it again, this time it appears one of them is drunkenly singing sea shanties in the shared stairwell. The perturbed neighbor runs to find a policeman to intervene in the kerfuffle, and lo, it wasn't a person an after all, but merely a ventriloquist dummy belonging to that cursed family upstairs. Well, this doesn't sit well with the policeman who begins a foot chase with ol' Mr. Dingbat. Meanwhile, Krazy Kat and Ignatz, one up each other on their pipe smoking game. George Herriman's artistic styling is discernibly unique, especially so given the period and infancy of the comic strip medium. It should be noted, Herriman has been cited by numerous comic book creators as a major influence on their work. With that, it is a wonderful honor for ComicConnect to offer this slice of history, tucked away in the consigning family's attic since 1911. Now bid up, me hearties, yo ho!
