"Battles Hitler" classic photographic cover
One of the truly iconic covers of the Golden Age, and the title on the cover says it all- Daredevil Battles Hitler! The Original Daredevil was created by Jack Binder and many legendary creators worked on the character including Jack Cole, Don Rico and the great Charles Biro. Dynamic art and spellbinding storytelling make this book a must have for any Golden Age aficionado. Notable not only for its full-frontal propaganda against the Third Reich pre-WWII, but for its Japanese war stories written months before the Pearl Harbor attack! A truly classic book.
This is the highest-graded copy of this important and hugely collectible piece of American publishing history, and we've simply never, ever seen a copy as nice as this. Truly serious Golden Age collectors will instantly recognize the importance and value of this incredible find, and we expect it to be one of the most popular and sought after books in this auction.
Overstreet 2011 NM- 9.2 value = $23,500; CGC census 6 in 9.4, none higher.

When you look at the scan of this book you will it has great eye appeal. It appears to be at least a VG in the scan. Defects include a 3" spine split at the top of the spine, small chip out of bottom of the fc, stains on bc and a detached centerfold. It should be noted the book has supple pages.

1st app. & origin Daredevil by Everett; Kirby cover (4/64)
Mound City
You can tell from the Spider-Man plug on the cover that Marvel had, by the time of this book's release, become known as a hero machine by pumping out high-gloss, high-energy heroes and heroines, which sold like hotcakes. In this case, the House of Ideas picked up a Biro hero name, which had been left to linger, dusted it off and added the enticing gimmick of making their Daredevil a blind lawyer, adding both modern intrigue and a great hook. It would take a while for the character to fully hit its stride, but the dynamic Kirby cover and ravishing Everett interiors attracted readers and established Daredevil as a unique and mature alternative to cosmic adventuring and teenage angst.
