ACTION COMICS #1 & SUPERMAN #1 BOTH FEATURED IN JUNE EVENT AUCTION
The Action Comics #1 CGC 2.5 copy comes from the State of Washington. The consignor’s mother, who passed away fourteen years ago, told her son she remembered owning it ever since she was a little girl in grade school. By the time she was in high school, she began to recognize that the first Superman appearance was something of significance, and began to preserve the comic book for safekeeping. Her son recalls first seeing it when she showed it to him when he was a freshman in high school, back in 1984. His mother impressed upon him that it was something of value. In 1989, they moved it to a bank security box, and as the only child, he inherited the comic a few years later after she died. More recently, he brought the comic to a comic book convention, and felt intimidated by the feeding frenzy of comic dealers who sought to purchase the comic from him. He ultimately decided to consign the comic book to the most experienced name in Action Comics #1, ComicConnect.com, and to let the market decide upon the value of the comic.
Action Comics #1 isn't the only significant Superman comic in the Event Auction. A Superman #1 CGC 4.0 EP has just been consigned and added to the almost 300 Event Auction comics already available for preview on the site.

THE VERY FIRST COMIC BOOK HITS AUCTION!
"It is very rare to ever even see a copy of Detective Dan", stated ComicConnect COO, Vincent Zurzolo. "The copy that ComicConnect will auction is a VG- 3.5 -- and is a scarce comic book artifact that we anticipate will attract a lot of bids from serious collectors."
Detective Dan was created, written and drawn by Norman Marsh, and the 10x13" comic book was a one-shot single issue. However, the ground-breaking character went on to enjoy exposure in newspaper strips, Big Little Books and pulp magazines (as well as merchandising). In many respects, Detective Dan was a clone of the character, Dick Tracy, with his fedora, square jaw, and penchant for fisticuffs. In addition to DETECTIVE DAN, SECRET OPERATIVE 48's groundbreaking role in comic book history, both the comic's title and the Wu Fang character that the story contained are said to have inspired Detective Comics #1 published 4 years later. As comic aficionados know, that series lead to the name of the publisher, DC Comics, and gave birth to the hero Batman in 1939.
In 2008, a FINE 6.0 condition copy sold on ComicConnect for $9,800. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT OF DISNEY COLLECTORS
Published by David McKay Co., Inc. MICKEY MOUSE COMIC #1 is the infamous forbidden fruit for which Disney afficianados have an appreciation. Reprinting daily newspaper strips in which Mickey Mouse attempts to shoot himself in the head and jump off of a bridge, the infamous comic is noteworthy for this very non-canonical Mickey Mouse storyline.
"Good-bye, Minnie, Good-bye, Cruel World!" exclaims Mickey in one panel of this comic.
Some have made the case that Mickey Mouse #1 is also the first Mickey Mouse comic book, as the previously published Adventures of Mickey Mouse is reportedly hard-cover.

NEW BID INCREMENTS ADDED TO COMICCONNECT
Per the table below, bid increments have been increased for Event Auction lots when
the "current bid" is $20,000 or more.
This change comes at the request of bidders and site members who expressed that it "didn't make sense" to have continuous 3 minute bidding extensions on higher-tier lots with every new $200 bid. We have made the change, and thank the membership for their feedback. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
