ComicConnect Reports Record Auction Sales

Event Auction #51 ended last week with over $8 million in sales and we topped it off by breaking our own world record price for a copy of X-Men #1 CGC 9.6 at $871,999. Marvel Comics #1 CGC 6.0 (Kansas City) set a record in the grade at $729,000, and restored copies of Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27 hit $350,750 each.

Event Auction #51 featured nearly every key from every comic age, a complete Marvel Mystery Comics run, scarcities, scores of classic covers, original comic art, pulps, and certified video tapes and games,” explained Vincent Zurzolo, co-founder of the auction house. “Thank you so much to every participant on both sides of the hammer. It was a thrilling auction to watch.”

      

Zurzolo reported additional comic book auction highlight sales: Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 9.0 $196,138, Amazing Man Comics #22 CGC 7.5 $69,000, All-American Comics #16 CGC 8.5 R $65,838, Captain America Comics #1 CGC 8.0 R $78,200, Daredevil #1 CGC 9.6 $110,500, Flash Comics #1 CGC 1.5 $85,000, Marvel Mystery #4 CGC 3.5 $48,000, and Superman #1 CGC 6.5 R $92,000.

      

Original art highlights: pages from Amazing Spider-Man #252 with page 21 hitting $80,500 and page 20 at $46,634. A Ron Frenz cover to Thor #412 hit $57,500 and a Frank Miller page from Elektra Lives Again sold for $38,812. For the pulp auction, the always popular first appearance of Buck Rogers in Amazing Stories (August 1928) hammered at $2,322. Collectors also bid on posters, memorabilia, video tapes, and video games. ComicConnect is currently accepting consignments for our fifty-second Event Auction.
