Northford CopyWeird Science-Fantasy came into existence in an effort to cut some corners and combine two titles into one, in doing so, EC only heightened the quality of the stories and art that went along with them. There is actually a reader’s letter in this issue that thanks the publishers for producing something with more depth than an average comic, saying the title is an illustrated sci-fi book, worthy of a literary designation. The short stories in this issue touch on humanity, bigotry, interstellar travel, life, and death, raising this comic up above the trivial output that clogged up spinner racks across the country. Created by the amazing talents at EC, their space operas went above and beyond their tawdry and violent horror titles to transcend the comic book form and reach for something approaching great art. An issue filled with emotion and wonder, some of the best work EC has to offer.

Wally Wood is an American comic book artist/ writer who is also one of the founding artist for Mad comics. In addition to penciling numerous comic book pages, Wally also ventured into product illustration, music album covers, and trading cards. Wally's most notable works include the aforementioned Mad comics, Marvel's Daredevil, and Weird-Science Fantasy for EC comics.
