Artists Information
Swan was a house artist at DC working on titles like Tommy Tomorrow, he began gravitating towards Superman and his related books, Superboy, World's Finest and Jimmy Olsen, he would eventually leave DC thanks to his personality issue with Editor In Chief Mort Weisinger. He would eventually return and go on to be the artist that defined the look of Superman in the Silver Age, eventually becoming the editor of the title, but after thirty years of keeping up standards of all things Superman, Swan was given the boot in favor of John Byrne's Superman reboot, Swan's comic work began to taper off after this dismissal and he eventually retired, but will forever be recognized as the Silver Age Superman's finest artist.
Joe Giella is an American comic book artist best known as a DC Comics inker during the late 1950s and 1960s Silver Age of comic books. Giella's career began in the 40's at Hillman and later working with C.C. Beck on Captain Marvel stories at Fawcett. He would also assist on Captain America, Human Torch, Sub-Mariner and other stories at Timely. It was the Silver Age where he would come to his most prominence, working at DC on many of their biggest titles, including Batman, Green Lantern and Strange Adventures, working often with artist Carmine Infantino.
Josef "Joe" Rubinstein is a comic book artist and inker, most associated with inking Marvel Comics' The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe and the 1982 four-issue Wolverine miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. He is also known to be the one to have given artist Art Adams his first professional work.
Richard "Dick" Giordano was an American comics artist and editor whose long and prosperous career included introducing Charlton Comics' "Action Heroes" stable of superheroes and serving as executive editor of DC Comics. He worked on a wide range of titles over the years, including Batman, Green Lantern/Green Arrow, Teen Titans, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Action Comics among countless others. His style was very much in the Neal Adams mold, making him a popular go-to artist in the 70s and 80s.
Ken Landgraf is an American comic book artist and commercial illustrator. Landgraf illustrated many of DC's horror titles in the late 70's, including The Witching Hour, Ghosts, Weird Tales and The Unexpected among others. He would later form his own company Landgraf Publications that would publish work by Neal Adams, Armando Gil, Dave Simons and others.
Juan Ortiz was born in Puerto Rico, and having moved to New York, Juan graduated from the Art & Design School and School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Later, Juan's skills took on comic book form, when he was inspired by the styles of Jack Kirby and Alex Raymond. In 1990 he published a comic series named 'Rescue Comics' together with Francisco Espinosa by Pigeon Press. At the pinnacle of his career, Juan was elevated to Director of Illustration for Warner Bros. Studio Stores. From 1989 to 1992, under the art direction of Vice President/Executive Editor Joe Orlando, he illustrated covers for the Warner Bros. magazines Looney Tunes and Tiny Tunes Adventures. He is the President and publisher of Silver Comics where he has created an entire new universe of characters including 'Sea-Bolt', 'Cloud Buster', 'The End', 'Dr. Monster', 'Boom Boxx', 'Captain Rescue' and many more.
José Luis García-López is a Spanish-Argentine comics artist who works in the United States, particularly in a long-running relationship with DC Comics. In addition to his storytelling art, he has been responsible for producing the official reference art for characters in the DC Comics Style Guide, as used in licensed merchandise.
