Originally Dalia Messick, she changed her name to Dale so that her work would be seen by editors due to bias in a male dominated field. Started Brenda Starr as a Sunday comic, which came immensely popular, syndicated and published daily until she stopped drawing in the 1980s. Brenda Starr went out to be published until Jan 2011.
