Pgs. 6, 7, & 8; Rich Buckler pencils & inks; framed, image sizes 10" x 15"This triple-header from 1990's Saga of the Original Human Torch is a dynamic, brutal, and thought-provoking piece of comic book history. As many Golden Age fans know, Human Torch was one of Marvel's wartime successes, appearing in many anthology books of the period and starring in his own comic, as well as in Marvel Mystery Tales, with his trusty sidekick Toro. In these pages, the Torch and Toro go head-to-head with one Adolph Hitler (aka Schickelgruber), whose suicide attempt is interrupted by the blazing heroes, but in the end the Fuhrer meets his fiery demise anyway, which slots nicely into the historic accounts of his burned carcass being recovered in Berlin. Rich Buckler handles this material with panache and gravity, while placing the emphasis on the "human" characteristics of the torch, allowing the character's emotions and personality to shine through. A simply breathtaking trio of pages that is sure to light a fire come hammer time.
