Classic Biro woman in bondage being cooked alive cover; bc pin-upWhen you mention Charles Biro to people who may not know much about Golden Age comics, and try to describe the kind of overwrought, insane, feverishly entertaining covers he would create to entice buyers, you should really just give up and show them covers like this. This is one of the two or three most infamous and notorious covers of the Golden Age hero period, and when you see it in person, it blows the mind. This is also the last appearance of the Scarlet Avenger in this issue, but, more importantly, wow, that cover.
Artists Information
The artist behind the original Daredevil at Lev Gleason Publications, Biro got his start working on Crime anthologies for the company. Also known for his work on Airboy and Steel Sterling. One of the standout artists of the Golden Age.
Irv Novick was an artist and inker for DC Comics. During the 1950s and 60s he often collaborated with friend and editor Robert Kanigher on DC's various war-related titles such as G.I. Combat and Our Fighting Forces.
