Gibson was the mastermind behind the character the Shadow, Gibson was a professional magician, and a prolific author who was capable of writing 10,000 words a day, he would go on to publish more than 300 Shadow stories, as well as create a stable of other lesser-known pulp heroes. In issue #3 of Shadow Comics, Norgil the Magician would make his debut in the nascent art form, along with another Doc Savage tale, making this book a heady mixture of pulp delicacies. Gibson's Shadow would enter the American consciousness through his famous radio show introduction "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!". The thirst for nostalgia is always reappearing in the world of comic books, and who knows when the Shadow may once again rise to prominence in this world that hungers so strongly for all forms of caped heroes.
