DESCRIPTION
Pgs. 8-9; Charlie Adlard pencils and inks; image size 10.25" x 13.5"These gruesome panels show the final encounter between Rick and the prison guard, Martinez, who has been working for the sadistic self-appointed boss known as the Governor. To prevent Martinez from returning to the Governor at Woodbury, Rick drives after him and runs him over with an SUV, then confronts him as he lies injured on the ground. Complaining of the Governor's vicious brutality, Rick turns violent himself and strangles Martinez with his remaining hand. This graphic portrayal of enmity has an intimate quality. Unable to trust Martinez, Rick wants to understand him and, failing to do so, wonders if he knows himself as he walks away from his victim.
