Jack Kirby cover; 2nd app of Daredevil; 2nd app of Electro; Fantastic Four app; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 7 (CBI)
Stan Lee is a creator who always hedges his bets when rolling out new characters, as he weaves the Fantastic Four into Daredevil #2 to increase sales and interest in the start-up super-hero. "The Man" deftly applied the same trick a year earlier in the classic, Amazing Spider-Man #1. The strategy works for the story and for Marvel's bottom line, as this is one heck of a jam-packed action fest, and the addition of Spidey nemesis Electro only serves to shore up the overall appeal of this book even further. The cover art by Jack Kirby does a spectacular job of encapsulating the action within, a tale that involves Matt Murdock's attempt to help the FF renew the lease on the Baxter Building, which is interrupted by the electric villain's evil machinations.

Artist Information

Jack Kirby is called 'The King of Comics' for a reason, during his career that spanned six decades he gave us many of the most iconic characters the medium would ever see. From his introduction of Captain America at the height of World War II it was clear he wasn't your ordinary comics artist. But it was his creative explosion at Marvel Comics in the 1960's that cemented his legacy, over a short period of time Kirby would give us The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Hulk, The X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man and Nick Fury just to name a few. Kirby would then go to DC and create his Fourth World, introducing Darkseid, Mister Miracle, The New Gods and a host of cosmic supporting players. Long live The King.
