Joe Kubert pencils and inks; 10" x 15"This Joe Kubert cover revels in the early 80s obsession with science-fiction that had swept over popular culture thanks in no small part to the original "Star Wars" movie trilogy, it seemed that far-out space action was everywhere, on the small screen to the movie theaters, adult-themed sci-fi mags like Heavy Metal, Epic Illustrated, and Omni were commonplace, and the trickle-down effect touched almost every corner of the comic book world. Characters like Warlord and Killraven existed in worlds that mashed up barbarian warriors with spaceships and lasers, even horror anthologies like the Unexpected got in on the fun. This Kubert cover with a little girl in pigtails looming over a trio of miniature spacemen is a fun and strangely compelling illustration. Generally speaking, Kubert art from any era is a popular commodity and this page is no exception.
