Tailspin Tommy was the first comic strip to cash in on America's obsession with aviation in the early part of the 20th century, thanks in no small part to the fervor surrounding Charles Lindbergh, many other heroic flyers would follow in the funny pages and comic books but Tailspin Tommy was the first, and many consider the best, of the airborne heroes to make a mark on comic readers.

In this episode of Tailspin Tommy, the titular hero and his pal Skeets have to climb out on the exterior of a dirigible to repair a fin that was damaged by a scrape with a mountain during a bout of inclement weather. The attempted daredevil mending job takes a bad turn as Skeets tumbles off the airship and hangs by a safety rope. Forrest was equally deft at handling action scenes as he was with conversational plot-driven fare, and his work on this page is exceptional. The piece is large format and has been hand colored by an unknown artist.
