After just two appearances in Marvel Mystery Comics Miss America was awarded her own book, this issue was unique, as by Miss America #2 the title would switch to larger format and would change its focus to romance and articles concerning makeup, cooking, and other subjects meant to attract young female readers of the time. The cover features art by Ken Bald which shows Miss America in a heroic pose as she looms over some gangsters firing at her oversized figure. Miss America would go on the be rebooted as America Chavez in 2011 and appeared in an animated movie in 2018 titled "Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors."
This 6.0 copy is in pretty spiffy condition, displaying some of the tell-tale signs of age, the comic still presents a bright chromatic scheme, is well registered, with nice clean corners and a stable spine. The fact that this comic is one of the very few Golden Age books to feature a female heroine, besides Wonder Woman, makes it a particularly desirable book, and the excellent cover illustration only adds to the allure of this classic.
