1st Green Hornet & Kato/1st Black Beauty
Jon Berk CollectionThe Green Hornet was created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker in the 1930s as a radio show on WXYZ in Detroit, Michigan. Brit Reid, the Green Hornet, is actually the nephew of the Lone Ranger, also created by Striker. Crime-fighting runs in the blood! The Green Hornet has appeared on radio, serials, a TV series with Van Williams and the legendary Bruce Lee as his faithful valet, Kato, and many comic books series of which this comic is the first. The cover sports a beautifully painted image of Green Hornet and Kato in their famed vehicle, the Black Beauty! The cover is thought to have been painted by classic pulp artist H.J. Ward.
