1st Superman by Siegel and Shuster
Highest Graded
The most important comic book in history, this book stands as the introduction of the archetype for all other heroes to come as Superman transcends comics and pop culture as an icon of truth, justice, and the American way! Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman is quite possibly the most recognizable fictional character in the world. The brainchild of two struggling sci-fi fans from the Rust Belt, the Man of Steel became an instant icon to Depression-era readers and transformed into a symbol of American spirit and spunk during the brutal days of WWII. Since then, he has endured as both a beloved character and an embodiment of hope and vigor, making this first appearance not just a piece of comics' history, but American history as well.

origin and 1st app. Wonder Woman; one of the scarcest major Golden Age keys!
DC's Big Three were blessed with auspicious beginnings. All Star Comics #8 did for Wonder Woman what Action #1 and Detective #27 did for Superman and Batman. America's Guardian Angel was an instant hit who served as a graphic representative of the women's war effort during WWII, predating Rosie the Riveter by two years. The daughter of Hippolyta rescued fighter pilot Steve Trevor, whose pursuit of a Nazi spy ended with his crash landing on Paradise Island. Men were forbidden on the island, but, in divining his past, Hippolyta recognized that he was a hero worthy of sacrifice. The Amazons decided to aid the war effort and defeat the evil Nazis and Diana was ultimately chosen for the assignment. The upside potential of this issue cannot be stressed enough. Wonder Woman's overdue solo film received critical acclamations and birthed a whole new generation of fans and feminists alike.

Bill Everett classic bondage cvr; drug story
Bill Everett began his career in advertising, and bounced around the commercial art industry for a few years before landing his first job in comics over at Centaur Publishing, where his talents easily translated over to the burgeoning art form. His fluid designs and ability to create eye-catching covers immediately earned him a place in the history of the industry, going on to create Namor, the Sub-Mariner and Marvel's Daredevil later on in life. His skills are evident in this early cover design for Amazing Mystery Funnies v2 #2, all of the Golden Age tropes are in place, bondage, woman in peril, scary villain in bizarre costume, and weird gadgetry, all rendered with panache and assuredness, this is one of Everett's most-beloved covers from his days at Centaur.

1st app. Green Goblin; 1st meeting Hulk and Spider-Man
Wherein Spidey gets his Joker, his Luthor, his Red Skull. Every hero needs an arch-villain, someone to completely define the hero's theme, struggle, and style -- and, boy howdy, is the Green Goblin one of the all-time greats. The identity and backstory of this compelling nemesis tie neatly into the Spider-Man story's themes of loss, tragedy, the tricky drama of dealing with friends and family, and the simple day-to-day difficulties of life. One of the most important and beloved of all Marvel keys.
