classic Kane/Romita cvr; 1st app. the Punisher; one of the top three Bronze Age keys!
Highest Graded
After more than a decade as Marvel's friendly neighborhood front man, the amazing web-slinger swings into the Bronze age with renewed fervor. This issue marks the first appearance of the Punisher. Created by Gerry Conway as the Assassin, but renamed by Stan Lee, and depicted in all his vengeful prowess by Gil Kane, Ross Andru and John Romita, Sr, the Punisher would quickly become one of Marvel's most popular and enduring anti-heroes. Relevant to big city crime problems and Mafia activity of the turbulent 1970s, ex-marine and war veteran Frank Castle's vigilantism is born from the horrible slaying of his wife and two children in a Central Park mob shootout. In the wake of tragedy, the Punisher emerges to seek vengeance on organized crime using any and all means at his disposal. Also appearing for the first time in this issue is the Jackal, evil alter ego of biology professor Miles Warren, introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #31. Now an associate of the Punisher, the Jackal convinces him to wage war on the webbed wonder, who he blames for the death of his secret love Gwen Stacy. The Jackal would become the main antagonist in the 90's Clone saga and the 2011 Spider-Island storyline, while the Punisher would appear in multiple self-titled series, and three major motion pictures, along with the cult status obtained from his portrayal in Frank Miller's acclaimed run on Daredevil. Who could have guessed that Creator Gerry Conway's original sketch of a small deaths head on his new character's chest would be brought to iconic t-shirt stardom by Gil Kane's stunning 1974 cover art. One of the most revered and iconic key issues of the Bronze Age. Hot on the tail of his recent appearance in the second season of Marvel's critical smash Netflix series, the Punisher is currently in greater demand than ever. This near-perfect copy of the first appearance of one of the more-popular anti-heroes in the genre should demand a ton of attention in our upcoming auction. The sky is the limit for the future of this book, one of the biggest Bronze Age comics out there.

Gil Kane motorcycle cover; 1st brief app. Daimon Hellstrom
Ghost Rider's origins began in the Wild West, the original character was an eerie gunslinging horseback rider in his first iteration. Reimagined in the rough-and-tumble era of the 1970s as a motorcycle stuntman, no doubt influenced by the antics of Evel Knievel, Ghost Rider would become an instant cult success. The image of a rebel on a motorbike whose head is a flaming skull could simply not be denied, and the occult and supernatural trappings of his adventures appealed greatly to a public weaned on the grindhouse horrors of the era. This first issue of Ghost Rider capitlaized on Johnny Blaze's success in the "try-out" anthology Marvel Spotlight which was spun off into this memorable and beloved series, spawning several series reboots and motion pictures in the future.

origin retold, 1st app. Guardians of the Universe
After the runaway success of the Flash's reintroduction, DC Publisher Julius Schwartz and his hungry staff of writers and artists hurriedly resuscitated more of their beloved Golden Age favorites. One of the indisputable successes was the reboot of the mystical Green Lantern franchise, featuring a new look by industry favorite Gil Kane. DC was placing all its bets on the new, Atomic-Age breed of heroes, expecting that they would break the company's long dry spell on the stands. Boomer readers were instantly transfixed by the cleverly boyish cover image. In the Silver Age iteration of Green Lantern, Hal Jordan receives his power ring from dying alien Abin Sur, resulting in an audience with the Guardians of the Universe, who deem him worthy to take the place of their fallen charge. Jordan soon heads off to Calor to battle a volcanic monster, thus launching the revamped version of the Green Lantern on his star-bound service in defense of the cosmos.

origin and 1st app. Sinestro
Although he is not featured on the cover of this issue, Green Lantern #7 contains the first appearance of Hal Jordan's nemesis, Sinestro. Granted similar powers to the Lantern, the character was conceived as a red-skinned being from the planet Korugar, who acquired powers which he then used to enslave his people, thereby becoming basically the opposite of the Green Lantern, and going on to enjoy a long career in villainy that lasts into the modern day. The cover story concerns Sinestro's kidnapping of an entire town and transporting them to Qward in an attempt to defeat Hal Jordan, who thwarts Sinestro and the Weaponers of Qward with a simple manipulation of a clock. This comic is a favorite of Green Lantern fans as it launched one of the most popular characters in the franchise and helped flesh out the ever-expanding universe of the GL mythos.

origin & 1st app. Silver Age Green Lantern (Hal Jordan); movie reboot soon
After the runaway success of the revamped Flash in Showcase #4, DC editors scrambled through the archives looking for Golden Age heroes to rework and repackage for the Atomic Era. Unsurprisingly, the next big hit of the DC Silver Age was a refurbished Green Lantern, who was upgraded to a devil-may-care hero with a science-fiction themed secret identity and origin tale perfectly suited to the Sputnik-era. Crack DC draftsman Gil Kane turned in an extraordinary and timeless costume, and indefatigable scribe John Broome worked with DC editor Julius Schwartz to concoct a mystical, yet futuristic, and surprisingly moving debut. If the Flash was the hint of a Silver Age of heroes, this book affirmed its existence and assured everything that followed. Its importance to comic history cannot be understated.

Savannah Copy
While a fan favorite through most of the 1970s, few cared about Jack Russell by the 80s. In this issue, the lovable lycanthrope's nemesis, the mystical Moon Knight, made his debut and quickly became an enduring part of the Marvel mythos and a staple of direct sales titles. Compelling stories by Doug Moench (co-creator of the character, along with Don Perlin) made Moon Knight a keeper. With numerous titles featuring the Moon Knight prominently over the decades following his initial appearance, the Fist of Khonshu is still a huge draw for comic fans. Rumors have continued to float about a Moon Knight TV series or film which should alert collectors to the fact that high-grade copies of Werewolf By Night #32 are exceeding multiples of price guide values.

1st New X-Men; 1st Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Thunderbird; Cockrum art (Summer 1975)
In the pantheon of modern superheroes, the X-Men have made their mark. 2000's X-Men was the first, and arguably one of the best, of what was to become a long line of blockbusters for Marvel. With that film and all of its sequels, the Uncanny X-Men have become a household name as Wolverine has cemented himself as one of the most popular heroes of all time. A revamping in 1975 by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum of the book's original lineup from the mid-60s, Giant Size X-Men 1 was the very first appearance of many of the characters we now associate with the movie franchise. Replacing most of the original characters while creating a multi-national team of superheroes, this issue renewed interest in the lagging title that continued through with X-Men 94 shortly after and spawned numerous X-titles all through the 80s, 90s, and the 2000s. To this day, the mutant team and all of their spin-offs continue to be amongst Marvel's best-selling books.

X-Men: Apocalypse, the latest entry into the massively successful film franchise based on the characters who first appeared in this book, is sure to drive the value of this Bronze Age classic to the next level.
