Jack Kirby cover/art; 1st full app of Him (Adam Warlock) (Guardians of the Galaxy 3); 1st Astrologer Royal of Asgard; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 7 (CBI)
Thor #165 made comics history with Jack Kirby depicting the first humanoid appearance of the mysterious HIM — soon to be known as Adam Warlock, who'd become an intergalactic presence in the Marvel Universe before inevitably joining the ranks of the MCU. Having earlier appeared in cocooned form in
Fantastic Four #66, this "perfect human" emerges from his stasis and quickly draws the ire of the Thunder God by kidnapping his lady, Sif. Thor gives chase across the universe in a wild tale that allows Kirby to let loose with his amazingly ambitious art. That's where this classic key leaves off, but Warlock would return to assume a place of cosmic (and continuing) rank in the Marvel hierarchy.
