Murphy Anderson cover; Mike Sekowsky pencils; Green Arrow joins the JLA; Letter from Roy Thomas; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 7 (CBI)Originally envisioned as a hasty merger of Batman and Robin Hood, the Green Arrow's rocky start belied a career of lucky breaks. By the release of this issue he was another hero property DC allowed to stagnate into near-irrelevance that was due for a comeback. Thus, his timely induction into the publisher's newest revival of old-school characters, Justice League of America, which had already, by this fourth issue, become a flagship title for DC's newly popular line of superhero comics.
With only two copies ranking higher on the CGC census boards, this impeccable copy of JLA #4 is quite a sight for sore eyes. Brilliant yellow wash heightens the strong green and red hues as well as the deceptively light blues that adorn the diamond the Justice League are trapped in. There are only the slightest of minuscule dings to be found on this cover, which is as clean and spiffy as a new pair of shoes. The imminent release of the Zack Snyder Cut of “Justice League” and the requisite sequel only mean positive things for the next owner of this special copy.

Artists Information
Mike Sekowsky was an American comics artist known as the penciler for DC Comics' Justice League of America during most of the 1960s (including their initial appearance in Brave and the Bold #28), and as the regular writer and artist on Wonder Woman during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Sekowsky's long career began in the early 40s for Timely Comics drawing the adventures of Captain America, and Sub-Mariner among others in titles such as All Winners Comics, Daring Comics, Marvel Mystery Comics, and Young Allies Comics. He would transition to DC Comics in the 1950s where we would work on Romance and Science Fiction stories including drawing the first appearance of Adam Strange in Showcase #17. He would co-create the Justice League of America with Gardner Fox and continue as it's artist for over 60 issues. Sekowsky would go on to have memorable runs as artist and writer on Metal Men, Wonder Woman, and the Supergirl feature in Adventure Comics.
Inker, started out in the 1940s, ended up at DC Comics working with Gil Kane, Mike Sekowsky, and Carmine Infantino on titles including Wonder Woman, All Star Comics, Justice League of America, and Our Army at War.
