Rockford CopyThis incredibly rare comic, a Fox Features Syndicate publication, is the second, and last issue of V-Comics. The V stands for “Victory” which was a popular symbol employed by the Allies in WWII. This book features the exploits of V-Man and his youthful gang of cohorts, the V-Agents, whose adventures find them fighting alongside the resistance in Vichy France which was occupied by the Nazis during the war. V-Man does battle with the forces of evil while rescuing his paramour Ginger in his superhero identity, and fumbling in hapless Clark Kent fashion when in mufti. The fun doesn’t stop there, check out the Black Terror rip-off, Black Fury and his sidekick Chuck, whose uniforms make them look like the baddies, what with their black cowls and skull logos. Rounding out the book is Nagana, the Queen of Evil, whose similarities to Wonder Woman cannot be ignored, but she is certainly a wicked creation, whose black magic is roundly defeated by the protagonist, Kalkor, the Avenger of Wrongs. All in all, a good old-fashioned Golden Age anthology romp, highlighted by crude yet enticing art, that is guaranteed to entertain with a caboodle of chills and thrills.
Due to the extreme scarcity of this comic (only eight copies on the census), this 8.0 example is the second highest graded in existence, festooned with glowing hues this book is in a remarkable state of preservation. Hailing from the respected Rockford pedigree this copy is sure to attract collectors who gleefully search the dark corners of the Golden Age for the most obscure and difficult to find books on the marketplace. This interesting curio is sure to hit the target with the rarity crowd come auction time.
