Highest GradedThis extraordinary document is not only a piece of comics history, but of African-American history, being the first comic created and published by black comic artists for a black audience. Devised by journalist Orrin Cromwell Evans in 1947, All-Negro #1 was posited as an alternative to the all-white, often racist comics otherwise populating the newsstands, and was aimed to provide young black readers their own role models and heroes, sorely needed in that pre-civil rights era. This gorgeous copy of All-Negro Comics #1 earned an 8.0 from CGC, making it tied for the highest-graded in existence. Truly a miraculous find, the hues and characters on the cover all mesh together beautifully. This copy will go for a high ticket price, and will only become more valuable over time. What a rare book!
Overstreet Guide 2021 VF (8.0) value = $13,000.
