DESCRIPTION
Jack Kirby pencils/Frank Giacoia and Wally Wood inks; page 9; 1964; image size 12.75" x 18.75"By issue #39 Stan Lee and Jack Kirby Fantastic Four had reached its full stride, with everything coming together to make one of the most exciting runs on any comic book in history. This page sees Doctor Doom lashing out upon being freed from Reed Richards before taking leave in a craft that can only be described as Kirby-esque. To make things more interesting the page features a guest appearance from Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, who is literally reached out to by Reed Richards in the final panel. While the majority of the page is inked by the always capable Frank Giacoia, the Matt Murdock and Daredevil figures in the issue were inked by comic book legend Wally Wood. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition.

Jack Kirby is called 'The King of Comics' for a reason, during his career that spanned six decades he gave us many of the most iconic characters the medium would ever see. From his introduction of Captain America at the height of World War II it was clear he wasn't your ordinary comics artist. But it was his creative explosion at Marvel Comics in the 1960's that cemented his legacy, over a short period of time Kirby would give us The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Hulk, The X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man and Nick Fury just to name a few. Kirby would then go to DC and create his Fourth World, introducing Darkseid, Mister Miracle, The New Gods and a host of cosmic supporting players. Long live The King.
Wally Wood is an American comic book artist/ writer who is also one of the founding artist for Mad comics. In addition to penciling numerous comic book pages, Wally also ventured into product illustration, music album covers, and trading cards. Wally's most notable works include the aforementioned Mad comics, Marvel's Daredevil, and Weird-Science Fantasy for EC comics.
Frank Giacoia (July 6, 1924 – February 4, 1988) was an American comics artist known primarily as an inker. He sometimes worked under the name Frank Ray, Giacoia made the rounds to almost every Golden Age publisher, notably working on Flash and Batman stories, he also worked at Timely during this period. In the Silver Age Frank worked on many Jack Kirby pages, particularly in Captain America, and he also notably inked the first appearance of the Punisher in AMS #129.
