Sheldon 'Shelly' Moldoff art; cover recreation; undated; image size 15" x 22.5"Wonderful re-creation of Johnny Craig's cover to Moon Girl #2 from 1947, which featured interior artwork from Moldoff. One of the unsung heroes of the Golden Age, Sheldon "Shelly" Moldoff was a true journeyman artist, able to turn his considerable talents to any genre, hero, or title, all with unerring flair and graceful style. In the late 1980's and early 1990's, he finally received his due from rabid fans and collectors, and made a new career drafting stunning new commissioned pieces for art mavens. This is a wonderful, fully colored piece of art by a legend of comics' earliest days. Mixed media. Art is in excellent condition. Signed by Moldoff.
Attractively matted to 21" x 28".
Artist Information
Moldoff is best known for his early work on DC's Hawkman and Hawkgirl, and was one of Bob Kane's primary "ghost artists" on Batman. He co-created the Batman villains Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, the second Clayface, and Bat-Mite, as well as the original heroes Bat-Girl, Batwoman, and Ace the Bat-Hound.
