Complete set of 5 TMNT Bronze statues; c. early 1990s; 8/12Twelve sets of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bronze Statues were produced by Kevin Eastman back in the early 90’s as a fundraising tool for his ill-fated Words & Pictures Museum. The statues were sculpted by John Dann and cast in Italy. They cost about $5,000 each to design, manufacture and ship. The statues of the four Turtles, Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael, along with their mentor Splinter were limited to only 12 pieces each, numbered in the casting of each piece.
It is believed that there are only five complete sets of matching numbers in the world, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird each have a set, one is at the Playmates Toys headquarters in Hong Kong, and another was gifted to the University of Massachusetts Amhurst Library, and this set. That makes this set the only complete matched set likely ever to be offered for sale.
These are extraordinarily rare, possibly the rarest of all Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collectibles.
The statues range from about 12" to 27" tall and each weigh approximately 50 lbs. each. Each statue sits on a custom marble base.
Shipping for these will be determined upon the close of the auction based on the buyers location.
