DESCRIPTION
A 15% BUYER'S PREMIUM WILL BE ADDED TO THIS ITEM AT CONCLUSION OF THE AUCTION
ow/white pgs; minor amt of glue on cvr; (4 pcs of tp on int. spn of cvr)
Bob Kane cvr/art; Joe Shuster, Fred Guardineer art, last Batman solo issue
This comic would be the last time the Batman would fight crime as a solo act in Detective Comics as he was soon to be accompanied by his trusty sidekick, Robin, in an effort to appeal to readers of a younger demographic. While this is not the last pulpy, moody, dark Detective cover, it represents a shift in the tone and demeanor of the early, dangerous, lone-wolf vigilante, which is only one reason Batmaniacs should be chomping at the bit to get their hands on this copy.

There are just under 70 copies of Batman’s last solo Golden Age issue registered on the CGC census making this a very sought-after and valuable commodity at auction, as Batman fans worldwide will surely be competing over ownership rights of this special book. While this copy has undergone some minor amateur restoration the central image of the Caped Crusader tossing a thug over his shoulder like a sack of garbage while another challenger awaits in the foreground is a classic Golden Age image. The Bat would soon find himself playing baseball and frolicking with his best pal Robin, making this the last of the dark Detective covers for quite some time. Devoted fans of the cowled vigilante should have a copy of this landmark issue in their collection.
