Jack Kirby cover/art; 1st app/origin of Dr. Droom, later becomes Dr. Druid; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 7 (CBI)Amazing Adventures #1 is notable for a few reasons, the main being the introduction of Dr. Droom, the first superhero character of Marvel's Silver Age, a nearly forgotten footnote in what was about to become an explosion of iconic, beloved mainstays of the Marvel Universe. Droom was later renamed Dr. Druid, to avoid confusion concerning one Dr. Victor Von Doom, but Droom also served as a prototype for Ditko's more memorable Dr. Strange. The title Amazing Adventures would soon morph into Amazing Adult Fantasy, and shortly thereafter Amazing Fantasy when the series hit issue #15, by which point the Silver Age would have been off and running, mere months after the publication of this important and underrated book.
